What Would YOU Do With 100 Tons of Pure Marble?

The Greek Marble Initiative gives Greek and foreign sculptures the chance to showcase their talents and give 120 sculptures to Myro Antiques House. The project seeks to attract and revive Greek contemporary sculpture.

Greek Festivals

This summer, don't miss out on the upcoming Greek festivals! The Athens and Epidaurus festival will include top-notch performers from Greece and abroad, including songwriter and performer Patti Smith and jazz icon Diana Krall. Also, the ancient theatre of Messene will reopen again after 1700 years of silence. It will host an opera gala by Tselia Kostea and Dimitris Platanias and the Athens State Orchestra, on August 3.

Architecture of Young Greeks

Young Greek architects are showcasing their work thanks to a collaboration of Athens Concert Hall and the Heracles' General Cement Company. The exhibition will display the work of students from the best Greek architectural schools, as well as other Greeks that are studying abroad.

Erika Spyropoulos Honored for Hellenic Philanthropy

The Educators Federation, the Greek Teachers Association, Prometheus, and the Hellenic American Women’s Council held an event in New York to honor Erika Spyropoulos, a humanitarian and social worker who is dedicated to helping Greek schools gain access to education through embracing Hellenic culture.

The Acropolis of Athens is number two in the list of UNESCO's most beautiful World Heritage sites and the new Acropolis Museum ranked third in the world's top 50 museums.

Greek Scientists Recognized in the US

Two Greek Scientists are receiving recognition and distinction for their impressive work and contribution to science.

Dr. Chryssa Kouveliotou was selected for membership in the US National Academy of Sciences. She is an astrophysicist and senior specialist at NASA's Space Flight Center. She continues to achieve in original scientific research. She is known for her extensive research on astronomical subjects.

Dr. Ioannis Touratsoglou, along with Professor Olivier Picard, are the recipients of the 2012 and 2013 Archur M. Huntington Awards. Dr. Touratsoglou has work in archaeology and numismatics. He served as a curator and director of the Numismatic Museum of Athens and a director of the National Archaeological Museum. He has an extensive list of publications and we is an inspiration to young Greek scholars.

New Greek Products Entering the Market

More than 65,000 new greek products entered the market from 2010 to 2013. Food and drink dominated the product list, with cosmetics coming in second. The cosmetic field is greatly expanding. This is a remarkable improvement despite the current economic conditions.

Smyrna: Longings for a Lost Motherland

You're Invited!

The Greek Embassy will be presenting a new series of mixed media collages entitled “LONGINGS FOR A LOST MOTHERLAND” by artist Annee Spileos Scott. The work Illuminates three thousand years of Hellenic culture in Asia Minor (Turkey today). . The title refers to the Asia Minor Catastrophe of 1922 and the Lausanne Treaty of 1923, as we acknowledge the Ninetieth Anniversary of both historical events.
